Director BIO: Nicolás Torres Payán (LONG LIVE THE PEOPLE!)

Nicolás Torres Payán obtained a scholarship to study Film at Vancouver Film School; upon his return to Mexico he worked in the production area in the short film “El Extranjero” by plastic artist Damian Ortega.
In 2018 he was the Personal Assistant to acclaimed director Arturo Ripstein for his film “El Diablo Entre Las Piernas”.
Nicolás currently works as a Literary Analyst at Alebrije Cine y Video and NBCUniversal, most recently he has been working on his first feature film as a Director while studying psychology.
His two shorts have been screen in Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia, Warsaw Short Framing, Dublin International Short Film and Music festival, FARCUME: Festival Internacional de Curtas-Metragens de Faro, Montevideo Fantastico 13, Short Shorts, FENS, Moscow Shorts and others, and have won a special mention in Aurora FIlm Festival, another special mention from the jury at Festival Internacional de Cinema da Figueira da Foz – Film Art, Public Award at Bucharest ShortCut CineFest, and best short in FICUVAQ 2021.

Nicolás Torres Payán obtuvo una beca para estudiar cine en Vancouver Film School. Al volver a México trabajó en el área de producción en el cortometraje “El Extranjero”, del artista plástico Damian Ortega. En 2018 fungió como asistente personal de Arturo Ripstein para la película “El Diablo Entre las Piernas”.
Actualmente Nicolás se desempeña como analista literario en Alebrije Cine y Video y en NBCUniversal. Al mismo tiempo está planeando su primer largometraje mientras estudia psicología.
Sus dos cortometrajes han sido proyectados en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia, Warsaw Short Framing, Dublin International Short Film and Music festival, FARCUME: Festival Internacional de Curtas-Metragens de Faro, Montevideo Fantástico 13, Short Shorts, FENS, Moscow Shorts entre otros y ha ganado una mención especial en Aurora Film Festival, otra mención especial del jurado en Festival Internacional de Cinema da Figueira da Foz – Film Art, el premio del publico en Bucharest ShortCut CineFest y mejor cortometraje en FICUVAQ.
